very vicky
John and Jana say: This story originally appeared in Cerebus #187, the one AFTER the infamous essay which spoke not nicely about the nature of women and was quite controversial in the comic book world at the time - thankfully, no one really pays attention to the comic book world. It was inspired by a real life incident at the Topsfield Fair in Massachusetts, where we had the honor of seeing Billy Haley's Original Comets, even though Haley was long dead and the so-called Original Comets were obviously in their 20's. We made up all sorts of tales of how we saw the ghost of Bill Haley and eventually recounted the incident in our book Four Go Mad in Massachusetts. Here, we just blended the inspiration with our love of Elvis Presley films and the fact that we just found the Big Bopper damn funny . . . but not in a good way.
